In order to generate your Home Energy Inspection Report, we will:
- Inspect 45 critical house components related energy use
- Score the home on a scale of 1 to 100
A 100 would represent a home with good energy performance whereas a 1 would represent a home that needs extensive energy upgrades.
U.S. Department of Energy Calculator
We will use a web-based energy calculator developed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to:
- Calculate the score
- Estimate the home's energy use
- Convert that into a savings estimate
- Develop recommendations for energy upgrades
Save Money by Saving Energy
The 12-page report lists recommendations for energy upgrades that are specific to your house, as well as an estimate of how much these energy-saving improvements can reduce your utility bill. The report is based upon the data I collect, national average of costs for installation of specific energy upgrades, and the state averages of the utility costs.
Some of the recommendations for energy upgrades are simple to do. Others require more effort and investment, but promise large financial savings over the years.
